My 12 year old rescue mongrel, Riley, was diagnosed with severe arthritis in both front legs a few months ago. Amputation or putting him down were options mentioned but a specialist finally prescribed Rimadyl which he's been taking for a few months now. He is virtually back to his old self, able to go on good length walks with none of the subsequent limping he used to have. VetUK's prices are also a third of what my vet charges so even with the £11 prescription fee, it's a huge saving.
My vet has today (11/11/09) charged me £19.03 for 20 tablets. i.e. 0.9515p per tablet. I wonder how they worked that fee out! I notice a similar price differential with other prescription medication. Should I need more they will be obtained via prescription from Vet UK.
