complete waste of money for me unfortunately, none of my 4 cats would entertain this either from the tube or in food. All recoiled in disgust and walked quickly backwards away from it! Even the greedy one wouldn't eat it! I'm glad I didn't buy one of the dearer ones because I think they would have the same reaction. I wanted this more for the laxative effect as one really struggles, but I'll be sticking to cat food with added veg after this unsuccessful attempt.
My cats don't like this laxative as much as Katalax, however, the low price is a plus point, so I keep some in a drawer as a back up. It's gooey and quite messy, but if that's not a problem for you, it's an effective budget fur-ball remedy.
I have used Katalax in the past for hairball problems with my cat who is now aged 16 years 4 months, but I decided to try Defurr UM from Vet UK and in my opinion it is just as good as Katalax, it is a larger tube so is less expensive to use. My cat has always suffered from hairballs, but since giving him Defurr once weekly after the initial dose of 3 consecutive days, he has not had any trouble at all from hairballs. My cat grooms himself a great deal even though he gets combed on a regular basis so hairballs were a constant problem for him, some of these were very large and did give him a lot of pain and stomach problems, it is great that he doesn't suffer with hairballs now. He has always had a very good appetite except when he had a hairball that he needed to get up, since giving him Defurr once weekly he doesn't have any problem at all with his food and his appetite is that of a much younger cat. I put some of the paste on my finger and he licks it off, he seems to like it as he did with Katalax, he is a very fussy cat as well so if it didn't taste good, he wouldn't touch it. I will definitely keep using Defurr UM and cannot recommend it enough.
