Description

The CarSafe Dog Travel Harness has been developed to provide maximum safety, comfort and protection for dogs in the car and whilst walking.

Designed in a continuous loop with the patented CarSafe single loop webbing design, the harness has been made with soft neoprene padding that covers all points of contact (with particular focus on the chest area) to prevent injury in the event of a collision.

The CarSafe Dog Harness is easy to fit and simply connects to your car seat belt to create a secure safety harness for your dog. Then, when its time to walk, a solid D ring on the back allows for easy lead connection.

I would honestly give 0 points if it was an option. This harness has a ridiculous design - the neck hole is tiny, with no possibility of adjustment, and the straps are quite narrow (2 cm/ 3/4"). I thought the neoprene lining would be an improvement over the Trixie harness I currently have, but the straps being so narrow would mean much more concentrated force on the body in case of impact, and in any case, it is only minimally softer than plain straps. (I didn't know it was possible to make neoprene as thin as denim!) I bought the XS as that was what was recommended for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. My dog is 8 months old and definitely not in the larger range for this breed, but the collar could only just be forced over her head, and then sat tightly across her throat. It doesn't take much imagination to know that her throat would be immediately crushed if we even braked hard - that is, of course, if she didn't slowly asphyxiate first! Dimensions: the collar has a little less than 32cm opening and the body circumference can be adjusted from 34-71 cm. As another reviewer pointed out, the adjustors on the body strap do not hold well and are easy to loosen. In my mind, this would create a strangulation danger, as the dog could begin to back out of the harness, with the head getting trapped. Now, it could be that a larger size would have worked better, and maybe the straps are wider in the larger sizes. I bought the size that was recommended for my breed, though, so that's what I'm going on. Even so, that wouldn't solve the problem of the body straps loosening so easily, and I think the non-adjustable collar is a major weakness.

Great harness. It's the cheapest option for keeping the dogs safe on the back seat and to prevent dogs from turning into ballistic missiles during a crash (likely to seriously injure both you and the dog). The only problem we have experienced is that the adjuster on one of the harnesses doesn't stay tight when adjusted, which means our dog has managed to back out of it once or twice. Be sure to check the adjusters aren't too loose, as soon as you get the harness. We have two dogs on the back seat with this and it means they can adjust their positions, without being a danger.

Good harness but we bought the small size to fit the chest size of our Lhasa apso and found that the neck hole was too tight and the chest bar too short. The medium size that we bought for our other dog(PugXLhasa) fitted better.

This is a good harness but I would be wary of using anything in the seat belt socket other than a seat belt! My dog's Clix harness recently jammed in the socket (after several months' satisfactory use) and it is costing me £97.50 to replace the socket, as using the Clix in it is has voided the warranty.
